In May 2015, Joe and I adopted a sweet two-year-old mutt from Chicago Canine Rescue. His shelter name was Buddy #7, but today he's our buddy, McGruff. He was reportedly a stray who was found with his brother, wandering around southern Illinois.
Over the past 11 years, McGruff has been so much more than a pet. He's our loyal companion, our source of comfort, and a cherished member of our family. Everyone who meets him falls in love instantly. He even occasionally comes to work with me, where I'm pretty sure he has more friends than I do!
We often think about how different our lives would be if Chicago Canine Rescue hadn't given this sweet stray dog a second chance. Because of them, we found a best friend, and we know there are so many more dogs waiting for the same opportunity.
Today, we're raising money to help Chicago Canine Rescue continue giving homeless dogs the care, safety, and second chances they deserve until they find their forever families.
If McGruff has taught us anything, it's that one rescued dog can change a family forever. Your donation, no matter the size, will help another family experience the same unconditional love we've been lucky enough to have for the past 11 years.
